On-loan Angers goalkeeper Hervé Koffi will miss Friday’s 20:45 trip to Lens due to a loan agreement. Revitalised in Anjou, the 29-year-old is keeping his options open.
Angers will also be without Goduine Koyalipou, so Oumar Pona starts. Koffi joined Lens in 2024 for just over two million euros as back-up to Brice Samba, then Mathew Ryan became first choice in January 2025.
After only five Ligue 1 outings, Koffi seized a season loan when Angers anticipated Yahia Fofana’s switch to Rizespor in Türkiye, with goalkeeper coach Grégory Malicki praising his distribution, reading of play and explosiveness.
Angers, 12th, have Ligue 1’s fifth-best defence, with Koffi on nine clean sheets in 23 matches and a league-leading 76.99% save rate. Head coach Alexandre Dujeux has repeatedly underlined his importance.
“I do not know. I am under contract with Lens until 2028. I will let my agents decide with the clubs, Angers, Lens and other clubs who come knocking,” he told RFI last weekend.
Pierre Sage has hailed Koffi’s season but said any decision will hinge on whether 21-year-old France Under-21 keeper Robin Risser, contracted until 2030, is part of the equation.
Angers could not add a purchase option due to DNCG controls. Dujeux wants to keep him, yet Koffi’s gross €80,000 monthly wage, well above Angers’ around €50,000 ceiling, and owner Saïd Chabane’s May 2025 stance of no paid transfers for two or three years, temper hopes.
