To say Michael Carrick’s interim tenure has got off to a dream start for the former Red is an understatement.
Today’s dramatic 3-2 win over Fulham marked a third successive win on the bounce for Manchester United, which came after the side had defeated the top two teams in the division, Arsenal and Manchester City.

While it is still early days for Carrick in the dugout, the match also confirmed that he had recorded a trio of consecutive wins in 34 fewer games than it took Ruben Amorim, who needed 37 attempts to achieve the feat.
It is also the lengthiest run of wins Amorim ever managed, meaning Carrick could well break his predecessor’s record against Tottenham Hotspur next Saturday.
When reflecting on United’s emphatic display at Old Trafford, Amad Diallo revealed the sort of things that the boss has been telling the squad behind the scenes to inspire such a turnaround.
“Michael Carrick, since he came in, has kept the vibes very high,” the forward told MUTV. “He’s telling us that we play for Manchester United, [that] this is a big club for everyone, and we need to keep the standard very high.”
The message is certainly being taken on board by the players, as each Red did their bit to get the result over the line this afternoon.

They face another tricky test next time out when hosting Spurs, who have just come from 2-0 down to draw 2-2 with Manchester City in the later kick-off.
Thomas Frank’s men have overseen turbulent Premier League form as of late, but do boast a respectable record in the Champions League, where they finished fourth of 36 clubs in the first phase of the competition.
