Liverpool have an obvious choice to replace Mo Salah.

Sooner or later every crown topples. The annals of history has taught us that no reign is everlasting. Change is always inevitable. When one king falls, a new one usurps his throne.

As reigns go, Mo Salah’s one at Anfield as the club’s Egyptian King has been long and successful. Few players have left behind a legacy as rich as Salah’s at the club.

But the laws of nature are not beyond him. Salah is not infallible. He too, just like the rest, has an expiry date on how long he will be able to rule for.

And that expiry date now seems to be edging closer. Liverpool’s king is on the brink of leaving his crown behind.

This summer will likely be the moment when Salah steps on from Liverpool. The Reds won’t want to let him go on a free transfer next year. Now is the time for Liverpool to cash in and get that big Saudi transfer fee.

The question then becomes, who will take on the mantle from Salah?

Liverpool have already prepared to replace his goals. Hugo Ekitike and Alexander Isak have come in to give the Reds an embarrassing riches of attacking reinforcements.

Isak and Ekitike will be trusted and relied upon to get Liverpool firing.

But of course Salah wasn’t just a goalscorer at Liverpool. He was a constant threat on the right-wing, he created chances and he made things happen.

Liverpool will still need to replace that impact. They will need to bring in a creator who can offer that extra threat from the wide areas.

But who might that be?

Well the answer is obvious. Although maybe not to many. But it’s so clear, it’s staring us right in the eye.

His name is Magnes Akliouche.

On paper, his numbers may not seem like much, but there’s a lot more to Akliouche than meets the eye.

He’s not going to score a crazy amount of goals, but he is going to get into the right areas in the opposition’s final third to penetrate defensive lines.

Akliouche is the type of player who thrives in and around the edge of the penalty area.

He can make brilliant runs to find himself in space and he’s an excellent connector between the attack and the midfield.

Importantly, he loves to create chances. Whether it’s supplying the box with crosses or making cut-backs from the byline, Akliouche is the type of facilitator who would bring out the best in Isak and Ekitike.

His technical qualities are simply sublime.

On top of that, he’s also a hard-worker, ranking in the top 10 Ligue 1 players for possession won in the final third (1.10 per 90 minutes).

His ability to be constantly moving and press opposition defences is what makes him the most ideal fit for Liverpool.

At 24-years-old, he’s entering his prime years and that’s why it makes us think - he’s the one. The one to replace Mo Salah. It’s an obvious choice.
