Rasmus Hojlund jokes his Napoli brace with the weaker foot ‘doesn’t happen very often,’ but feels he is ‘getting better every season’ and hails teammate Matteo Politano.
The Partenopei were still celebrating the Supercoppa Italiana victory in Riyadh, where they beat AC Milan and Bologna 2-0 to lift the trophy.
Their last Serie A match before that trip to Saudi Arabia was a defeat to Udinese that knocked them off top spot, so the pressure was on to get back to winning ways against Cremonese.

Hojlund was the Man of the Match, scoring both goals before half-time, while Vanja Milinkovic-Savic barely had a save to make at the other end.
Incredibly, it was a brace with his weaker right foot.
“It doesn’t happen very often!” confessed Hojlund on DAZN Italia.
“I’m just happy with the result, 2-0 here is not easy, Cremonese troubled a lot of teams this season, it was a difficult task, but we brought three points home for Napoli.”

Hojlund looks like a different player to the one that left Atalanta and then struggled at Manchester United, so is he reaching the peak of his career?
“I am getting better every season. Obviously, I was a bit younger at Atalanta, I’ve got a bit more experience now, playing in the Premier League and the Champions League.
“I’m playing alongside some great players now, like Politano, who doesn’t get his flowers because he hasn’t scored many goals this season, but he helps the team so much and is a top player. He’s so important for us.”

Napoli end a very successful 2025, which saw them crowned Champions of Italy for the second time in three years, and also lift the Supercoppa Italiana trophy.
It is the first time since 1990, the era of Diego Armando Maradona, that they’ve won two trophies in a single calendar year.
Politano was part of the trident attack, but Antonio Conte has transformed him into a wing-back in the 3-4-2-1 formation, on the same flank as David Neres.
“I think that I have matured tactically a great deal in the last 18 months,” Politano told DAZN Italia.
“I am happy with this consistency, we feel well-suited to this tactical system, as David moves well, so we’re pleased with what we are doing.
“It has been a spectacular 2025 for all the Napoli fans, as we brought home two trophies. Now we end the year with a great victory and have to continue in 2026 with this hunger, as we want to bring home more success.”
