Hostile graffiti aimed at OM president Pablo Longoria appeared on Tuesday morning near the Commanderie training centre, with Longoria under intense pressure.
Later on Tuesday, in a statement, president Frank McCourt said Longoria’s role should shift towards institutional responsibilities to maintain Olympique de Marseille’s representation in French and especially European bodies. The statement also confirmed a reduction in his remit.
The messages included "Longoria démission", "Longoria imposteur" and "Longoria casse-toi". They followed hostile banners during Saturday’s 2-2 draw with Strasbourg.
The graffiti were seen on the walls of the Robert-Louis Dreyfus centre beside the Commanderie facility.
The unrest comes amid a governance crisis at OM, marked by the announcements of Roberto De Zerbi’s departure on Wednesday and Medhi Benatia’s on Sunday.
