Former West Brom and Reading winger, Hal Robson-Kanu has made millions since retiring from professional football, with his health drink company.

Hal Robson-Kanu is a name that plenty of West Brom, Reading, and Wales supporters will know all about, and it's fair to say that he's making a name for himself away from the football field since calling time on his career.

The former Welsh winger most notably scored a stunning solo goal for his country in the quarter-finals of Euro 2016 against Belgium. Wales couldn't quite go all the way in that competition, but Robson-Kanu's goal is one that will live long in the memory of their supporters.

Robson-Kanu called time on his playing career in 2021 after a five-year spell with West Brom reached a conclusion, which brought an end to an impressive time in football.

The London-born 36-year-old has wasted no time with his next venture though, and made his own company, Innate-Essence, which operates The Tumeric Company.

The Tumeric Company is a health drink business which has made Robson-Kanu a significant amount of money since it was formed back

in 2018.

They specialise in raw, functional turmeric shots which are developed to support health and recovery for individuals. For those that aren't familiar with this type of market, there is a sizeable demand for health-based products.

His company saw significant growth since launching, which include an 800% revenue growth through partnerships with the likes of Brentford, Everton, and the Leicester Tigers.

Robson-Kanu has recently sold a majority stake in that company (51.1%) for a reported £15 million to the drinks giant, AG Barr, who are the original makers of Irn-Bru.

The expectations that Robson-Kanu previously had for the company certainly lived up to the hype, with the former West Brom and Wales man having international ambitions with his product.

Start-up process revealed

Robson-Kanu didn't have the most prolific of careers in football, with some of his time in the game being disrupted through injury problems, which included some severe knee injuries.

Speaking to The Reading Chronicle in a previous interview, Robson-Kanu revealed how the company was formed, with his father also being involved in the research process.

“It was at that point where me and my dad basically went on a research binge. We began looking at natural ways to recover from pain, inflammation and swelling. “We went to the library and scoured the internet. We looked at ancient Asian practices in eastern cultures where they would use natural remedies. “What we began to find was these natural ingredients which kept recurring, like watermelon, pomegranate, pineapple, ginger and turmeric in the raw format.”

Meanwhile, some of Robson-Kanu's former clubs have endured a tough few years recently, with West Brom battling to avoid relegation from the Championship, whilst Reading have had a whole host of off-field problems that mean they're playing their football in League One.
