The Old Gold and Black failed to win a league encounter until January after initially replacing current Nottingham Forest boss, Vitor Pereira, with Rob Edwards, who has since been dismissed himself in rather intriguing and somewhat perplexing circumstances.

It had been expected amongst supporters that the 43-year-old would be given the opportunity to oversee an immediate rebuilding job at Molineux after the club returned to the Championship for the first time in eight years, but that isn't to be the case.

Instead, under-fire ownership consortium, Fosun Group, have now turned to former Gil Vicente boss, Cesar Peixoto, who saw his appointment on a two-year contract confirmed earlier in the week.

The 46-year-old has never managed outside his native Portugal thus far, so many eyes will be on whether he can translate his relative success with his former employers, who he helped finish sixth in Liga Portugal last season.

Naturally, having been relegated from the top-flight on just 20 points, there has been intense speculation as to how the squad in this part of the West Midlands will look come the beginning of the competitive campaign on the weekend of August 8th in the EFL Cup first round.

Several names have attracted plenty of exit talk, with Joao Gomes still waiting to see his £39m move to La Liga giants, Atlético Madrid finalised, while Ladislav Krejci - who has captained Czechia at the FIFA World Cup - is wanted by Besiktas.

This comes after Wolves completed the pre-contract signings of Kieran Trippier and Raul Jimenez, with the former agreeing to his pending move after speculation that he was angered by the sacking of Edwards.

However, it has now emerged that further international experience is wanted in the form of Che Adams.

Adams, of course, is also a player with vast EFL experience, having featured in the Championship with both Birmingham City and Southampton and in League One with Sheffield United, where he was handed his major career breakthrough.

Wolves' local rivals, Birmingham, were then able to flip a major profit on his services seven years ago as he moved to Saints for £15m, earning a first shot at the Premier League.

He netted 25 times in 124 top-flight games, and despite scoring 16 times to help the South Coast side earn promotion at the first time of asking back to the division two summers ago, departed for Serie A side, Torino, on a free transfer.

In Italy, the 29-year-old has scored 18 times in 74 games, and is currently a part of Steve Clarke's Scotland squad for the World Cup, but has seen interest from Wolves in his services revived once more, albeit there is reported competition from Venezia.

It has also been claimed that Adams is keen on a return to the UK, and that would certainly help a move from Wolves, but how much would he potentially be earning at Molineux in comparison to his ESTIMATED current salary?

According to Capology - a site which ESTIMATES player earnings and wage bills - Adams is the second-highest earner at the Stadio Olimpico, earning a weekly sum of €64,038, which equates to approximately £55,530 per week.

Torino's overall wage bill for the season is said to be at a cost of €980,577, even though 'Il Toro' were only able to finish 12th in the Italian top-flight, with the Leicester native finding the back of the net on eight occasions from 36 games in all competitions.

If such a figure was to be immediately matched by Wolves, Adams would be far down the pecking order in terms of weekly wages, but still earning a respectable enough figure in comparison to some of his potential teammates.

However, some may even question the need to sign the Scottish international, with Wolves still boasting the likes of Jimenez, his former St Mary's teammate, Adam Armstrong and Tolu Arokodare at present, even if there are still question marks over the future of South Korean forward, Hee-Chan Hwang.
