Club owner finally reveals the true figures

How much does Messi really earn at Inter Miami?
Inter Miami owner Jorge Mas confirmed that Lionel Messi earns between $70 & $80 million per year with the MLS club.
Lionel Messi earns between $70 million and $80 million per year at Inter Miami according to club owner Jorge Mas.
Mas shared the figures in comments reported by The Athletic. The total amount includes Messi’s salary, bonuses, commercial agreements and his equity share in the club.
Messi joined Inter Miami in July 2023 as a free agent after his contract with Paris Saint Germain ended.
According to data from the MLS Players Association, Messi receives base salary of about $12 million per year while his guaranteed income rises to $20.45 million after bonuses are included.
However the real value of the deal is much higher because the contract also includes a stake in Inter Miami. This agreement means Messi will become a partial owner of the club after his playing career.
Mas explained that the Argentine star’s full earnings package reflects both his playing role and his commercial impact on the club and the league.
Messi was the highest-paid player in Major League Soccer last season. He earned significantly more than other stars in the league including Son Heung-min who reportedly earned $11.15 million and his former teammate Sergio Busquets who earned $8.75 million before retiring at the end of the season.
Mas also said that paying Messi such a large amount is justified because of the value he brings on and off the pitch.
Messi’s arrival has greatly increased Inter Miami’s market value. Before he joined in 2023, the club was valued at around $585 million.
Recent estimates now place Inter Miami’s value at about $1.35 billion showing how much the Argentine superstar has boosted the club’s global profile.
