The Sky Blues earned a remarkable tally of 95 points in the second tier this term, finishing 11 points clear of Ipswich Town, who clinched the other automatic promotion spot.

Lampard has steered the CBS Arena club back to the Premier League for the first time in 25 years, so supporters will always be thankful for his efforts.

Coventry are now tasked with building a squad that can cope with the demands of the top flight, while they must also retain Lampard's services.

Crystal Palace and Fulham are among the Premier League clubs searching for a new manager this summer, which leaves the Sky Blues at risk of losing the 47-year-old.

Lampard had to work incredibly hard to earn the strong reputation he now has both at Coventry and beyond.

The Sky Blues' decision to sack the former Chelsea manager's predecessor, Mark Robins, was controversial because the 56-year-old had guided them from League Two to a Championship play-off final and an FA Cup semi-final.

Furthermore, Lampard's stint with Everton and his second spell as Chelsea boss were largely unsuccessful, leading to some scepticism regarding how well he would perform in the Coventry dugout.

The former England midfielder swiftly proved doubters wrong, though, as he steered the West Midlands outfit to the Championship play-offs last season.

Lampards's men suffered a heartbreaking defeat to Sunderland in the play-off semi-finals, but that didn't prevent them from clinching promotion in style this time around.

Meanwhile, as reported by The Sun, Lampard is aware that Coventry owner Doug King may not have the resources to ensure Premier League safety, amid interest in the Sky Blues boss from Crystal Palace.

However, the former Chelsea star's salary is an aspect that may help King keep him at the CBS Arena.

As per the Express, Lampard earns around £5million a year as Coventry boss, which would put him among the top 10 highest paid managers in the Premier League.

Interestingly, according to the Coventry Telegraph, the former Everton manager currently earns £1m a year more than Palace's Oliver Glasner and Fulham's Marco Silva.

BeIN SPORTS presenter and Sky Blues fan Richard Keys has linked Lampard with the Fulham vacancy, with Silva set to leave Craven Cottage this summer, when his contract expires.

Frank Lampard salary reveal should relieve Coventry City players and supporters

Coventry have a huge task on their hands next season, trying to retain their Premier League status after returning to the top flight for the first time in 25 years.

Perhaps worryingly for the Sky Blues, both the 2023/24 and 2024/25 seasons saw all three newly promoted sides relegated back to the Championship at the first time of asking.

Both Sunderland and Leeds United are set to remain in the Premier League following their promotion-winning campaigns last season, but King may not have the financial power to strengthen his club's squad in the same way as the Black Cats and the Whites did last summer.

However, Coventry's chances of retaining their top-flight status are more likely if Lampard remains at the CBS Arena, so the fact that he is on a high salary will ease exit fears, pleasing both players and supporters.
