Rumours regarding a potential Juventus return for Federico Chiesa are beginning to resurface, and recent updates indicate how much it will cost the Bianconeri to sign their former attacker back from Liverpool in January.

Juventus have been linked with a move to sign their former attacker Chiesa back from Liverpool in January.

The 28-year-old had been forced out of the Bianconeri set up just 18 months ago. He had entered the final year of his Juve contract in the summer of 2024 and was unable to come to an agreement over a renewal, largely due to his salary demands and injury record.

This led to his being excluded from first-team training for most of the summer, and then an eventual sale to Liverpool for a cut-down price of around €15m.

Chiesa has had an interesting time on Merseyside. Despite having minimal opportunities under Arne Slot in 2024-25, he was technically still part of the squad that won the Premier League title, and has since gone on to earn cult-hero status at Anfield. That is due to his encouraging and passionate performances when given the opportunity.

How much Juventus need to spend to sign Chiesa

With a World Cup just around the corner, and with opportunities still limited at Anfield, there have been reports that Juventus are keen on bringing the 28-year-old back to Turin in January.

Chiesa is reportedly opening up to the idea of a Bianconeri return, and has even discussed the topic with some of his former teammates including Dusan Vlahovic and Manuel Locatelli according to Thursday’s reports.

According to updates from Tuttosport, Juventus would need to invest a fee of around €10m to sign Chiesa back on a permanent basis this January. That would avoid Liverpool making a capital loss: They paid a reported fee of €15m to sign Chiesa in the summer of 2024 and he is now 18 months into a four-year deal.

Liverpool are reportedly only interested in a permanent sale if Chiesa is to leave in January, which rules out the possibility of a loan with a possible option or obligation to buy.
