Blackburn Rovers have a sell-on clause as part of the deal they negotiated with Crystal Palace to sell Adam Wharton in January 2024.

According to the Lancashire Telegraph, the Championship side will be owed 15 per cent of the profit earned from any move the midfielder makes away from Selhurst Park.

The 21-year-old has become the subject of recent transfer speculation following his standout performances for the London outfit.

He was critical to the Eagles winning the FA Cup last season, and has proven a consistent presence in Oliver Glasner’s side.

Since moving to Palace, the ex-Blackburn player has featured 42 times in the Premier League, with injuries preventing him from making more appearances.

It’s understood that Blackburn are set to receive 15 per cent of any profit Palace earn from a sale of Wharton.

It’s been reported that the Premier League side signed the midfielder for £17.5 million back in January 2024 following his strong performances at Ewood Park.

It has been claimed by Fabrizio Romano that Manchester United appreciate the player ahead of the upcoming winter market, but that Palace want to wait until after the 2026 World Cup before making any potential decision on a sale.

Wharton has a contract with the Eagles until the summer of 2029, giving them a lot of leverage in any possible transfer talks.

Chelsea are also believed to be admirers of the 21-year-old, according to Teamtalk, after he’s made a promising start to the new campaign.
