The Lancashire outfit signed the 28-year-old in a bid to replace the goals lost by Sammie Szmodics’ departure to Ipswich Town.

According to the Lancashire Telegraph, Rovers have spent a six-figure sum to bring him from Japan to England for the new season.

The transfer has proven a real coup based on his promising start to life at Ewood Park, bagging four goals from five league appearances so far (all stats from Fbref).

John Eustace will be hoping that he can continue in that kind of goal-scoring form, with Szmodics having contributed 27 last season, earning the league’s golden boot in the process.

Here we take a look at how Ohashi’s wages compare to the rest of the Blackburn squad, based on estimated figures taken from Capology

Ohashi is estimated to be making £15,000 per week at Blackburn, making him one of the highest earners at the club at the moment.

Ohashi signed a three-year deal when he joined the Championship side, with the option of another year.

The opportunity to move to European football has proven a lucrative one for the forward, who is in the prime of his career and would’ve been looking to earn a big move at this stage.

His positive start to life at Blackburn has proven a gamble worth taking for both parties, and Eustace will be pleased with the impact he’s had in the squad so far.

Given he is the fifth highest earner at Rovers, this will feel like a good deal for the club at this stage.

The big test for Ohashi will be whether he can keep up this goal-scoring form consistently over the course of the full campaign.

Four goals from five appearances is very promising, but Szmodics managed that kind of attacking threat over the whole year to bag 27, which is what he will now be compared to.

Ohashi is the fifth highest earner at Blackburn, with Todd Cantwell taking home top spot following his move this summer from Rangers.

The midfielder is earning £30,000-a-week at Ewood Park, having agreed to a three year deal.

Lewis Baker, on loan from Stoke City, is earning £20,000 per week, but it is unknown what portion of his wages are being paid by the Lancashire side, and how much the Potters are still accountable for.

Andreas Weimann is another summer signing at Blackburn, and he is the club’s third highest earner, taking him £17,500 per week before tax.

The forward bagged his first goal for the club in their opening day 4-2 win over Derby County, and he also scored in their 1-1 draw against Burnley at the end of August.

Rounding out the top five, just above Ohashi in the pecking order, is Dominic Hyam, who has been with Rovers since the summer of 2022.

He is an important part of Eustace’s first team plans, and receives a salary worth £16,923 to reflect that status.
