The future of FC Barcelona youngster Hector Fort remains uncertain as the transfer market nears its close.
At present, the most viable option available to the Blaugrana is a loan deal to Mallorca. However, this move depends entirely on the departure of Pablo Maffeo.
As has already been reported, unless the right-back leaves Son Moix, the La Masia graduate will not be able to finalise his transfer.
Brazilian side Atletico Mineiro were keen on signing Maffeo, but their interest has now faded.
Mallorca had initially considered Alaves as a potential destination for the defender. Now, though, they are not pursuing the Mallorcan right-back and will not make any move for him.

With both Atletico Mineiro and Alavés out of the picture, Sevilla have now emerged as the strongest alternative for Maffeo, and Barcelona are relying on this possibility, reports Mundo Deportivo.
The scenario, however, remains complicated. For the deal to take shape, Juanlu Sanchez must first leave Sevilla. Only then could the Andalusian club sign Maffeo, enabling Mallorca to secure Fort from Barcelona.
Fort is not part of coach Hansi Flick’s plans for the first team, making his stay at Barça highly unlikely.
However, with a move to Mallorca hinging on several other factors, the possibility of him remaining at the club until January is not entirely ruled out, unless his agents arrange a last-minute move to other leagues outside Spain.
