Club Brugge are in disappointing form and have won just two of their last seven games. That run included a 3-0 loss to Sporting Lisbon, but they did also manage a 3-3 draw with Barcelona. They are third in the Belgian Pro League.

They sacked their manager Nicky Hayen just two days before the game against Arsenal and have appointed Ivan Leko as his replacement.

Arsenal are currently top of both the Premier League and the Champions League league stage. They have only lost once since August, but that was in their last game against Aston Villa.

Mikel Arteta has been hit with an injury crisis and may view this game as a chance to rest and rotate, but he will also know how far a win could go in their quest for qualification to the knockout rounds.

Ivan Leko on becoming the Club Brugge manager: “It was very fast and emotional. I haven’t slept in two days. This is a big challenge. We are fighting for titles and the squad is made to play good football. Everything is there on the sporting side.”

Mikel Arteta: “You start to look at all their (Club Brugge) games and analyse the manager and their identity and obviously the last performance they had was in the Champions League and in domestic competition, and in the afternoon we get the news that they have a new manager so you have to adapt.”
