England players have one final chance to impress Thomas Tuchel before the World Cup squad is announced
The Three Lions were held to a 1-1 draw by Uruguay on Friday in the penultimate fixture before Thomas Tuchel names his squad for this summer's World Cup.
Ben White, booed by section of England supporters on his return to the squad following a lengthy absence, broke the deadlock in the 81st minute with his first senior goal at international level.
However, the Arsenal defender was at fault for Uruguay’s equaliser as he conceded the penalty from which Federico Valverde converted to ensure the South Americans avoided defeat.
England’s preparations for tonight’s friendly has been disrupted by several players - including Declan Rice, Bukayo Saka and John Stones - dropping out of the squad, though Harry Kane will start and captain the team after being rested last week.
Tuchel was not best pleased with what he saw against Uruguay and has called on his side to produce a "top performance" to beat Japan, even if it's only a friendly.
Japan arrive in London in fine form, having won each of their last four internationals in a row. This includes 3-2 win over Brazil and most recently a 1-0 win over Scotland at Hampden Park where Junya Ito scored a late goal.
