Arsenal secured their first Premier League title in 22 years after winning their final five matches of the league campaign following a 2-1 defeat to Manchester City in April. The Gunners also defeated Atletico Madrid 2-1 on aggregate to reach their first Champions League final in 20 years.
PSG lost their final Ligue 1 match of the season to city rivals Paris FC, but had already wrapped up the title, finishing six points clear of second placed RC Lens. Luis Enrique’s side defeated Bayern Munich 6-5 on aggregate to progress to their second consecutive Champions League final.
Luis Enrique says he was not surprised Arsenal won the Premier League under Mikel Arteta: “I am not surprised, especially with what he has done this year. They are worthy of winning the Premier League, the best team in the league. It was not easy with Man City on their tails.
“Arteta has been there six and a half years, and he knows them inside and out.”
Mikel Arteta says Arsenal are ready to dethrone PSG of their crown:
“We are here because we have earned the right to be here and are ready to compete for the trophy. PSG are champions and here to defend their trophy and we are here to take it away from them.”
