Bodo are currently second in the Eliteserien. They come into the match against Tottenham after a draw against Rosenberg. The Norwegian side also drew their first match in the Champions League 2-2 against Slavia Praha.
A late goal from Joao Palhinha rescued a point for Spurs against Wolves after a poor second half display from Thomas Frank’s team at the weekend. They have not won in the Premier League since their 3-0 win over West Ham earlier this month but they did win their first match in the Champions League against Villarreal.
Bodo play their matches on a plastic pitch and Spurs boss Frank talked about whether it will effect the way his side will line up for the match.
“It does not change our tactical approach.” he said. “We are aware, it’s the same in Denmark, when I was coach for Brondby, we were facing Nordsjaelland at that time.
“It was also a different surface, they’re good here, they’re very good at home. I think there’s a lot of talk about the pitch, I instead want to praise the team, the Bodo team, and their coach for what they do.”
Bodo beat some big sides in the Europa League last season including Lazio and Olympiacos but they were unable to continue that form against Tottenham in the semi-final. Their manager Kjetil Knutsen believes that Spurs were just too much for his side.
“We were tactically outclassed,” he said. “They manage to strangle our free play with their pressing game. They never allowed us to settle into a rhythm.
“Physically, they were levels above us, and they took out the pace of the game when they needed to. We never got into any of the two matches. It was a wake-up call for us.”
