Man Utd are interested in Wolves' Sam Johnstone, with the keeper open to an Old Trafford return
Wolves are set to make major changes to their squad over the coming weeks as Rob Edwards looks to build a team that can win promotion next season.
The Black Country outfit endured a torrid campaign last time out, as they were effectively relegated with months to go, so there is a lot of pressure on the hierarchy at Molineux to put things right.
There have been some positive moves on that front, as Andre has signed a new contract to stay at the club, and Kieran Trippier is expected to join on an initial two-year deal.

Whilst Wolves will be looking to address virtually all areas of the pitch, one priority for the club will be sorting out the goalkeeping department.
Jose Sa is expected to depart after relegation, and number two Sam Johnstone could also be on his way out.
That’s after Sun journalist Alan Nixon revealed that Man Utd are tracking the stopper, who came through the ranks at Old Trafford, before going on to have a career that saw him play for the likes of West Brom, Aston Villa and Crystal Palace, as well as representing England.
However, his time at Wolves has not gone to plan. Johnstone joined at a time when Sa was expected to leave, but the Portuguese keeper stayed at the club, and has been ahead of him in the pecking order for the majority of the past two years.
But, the 33-year-old did get opportunities in the XI, although he hasn’t always impressed in a Wolves shirt.
Interestingly, the update adds that Johnstone would be open to returning to the north-west this summer, but he does still have two years to run on his contract with Wolves.
Johnstone would join Man Utd as a backup option, and the fact he is a homegrown player who came through the ranks at Old Trafford would help Michael Carrick’s side when it comes to registering their squad for the Champions League next season.

It’s fair to say that this is a transfer that just hasn’t worked out.
Johnstone may be disappointed with Wolves, as he joined at a time when Sa was expected to go, so he didn’t become the undisputed number one that he probably expected.
But, when he did play, he didn’t do enough to keep his place. As well as that, he has not been involved in a lot of games for Wolves in the past two years, so there are some fans who question his commitment.
Some would argue that Johnstone would be a decent option in the Championship, but, given the mood around Molineux, a fresh start could be the best outcome as the fans want to see the squad refreshed.
Obviously, a move to Man Utd will depend entirely on Johnstone.
He will know that it effectively means he won’t play much moving forward, but the chance to join a club close to his heart, train at excellent facilities every day, move closer to home, and be part of the squad as they try to challenge for trophies may appeal, even if he won’t get minutes on the pitch.
So, this could be one to watch, but if Man Utd do firm up their interest, it’s hard to imagine that Wolves will stand in his way, and it will free up more space and funds for Edwards to bring in at least one new keeper.
