Former Chelsea winger Callum Hudson-Odoi has been explaining why his current manager Nuno Santo has got the best out of him.
Hudson-Odoi was sold by Chelsea for just £3m, but the Cobham graduate appears to suggest that other managers just didn’t give him the same belief and trust that Santo has given him.
Chelsea are going to be busy in the upcoming transfer window and they will have a number of deals they will look to be pulling off both outgoing and incoming. We may see more former Cobham stars sold by the club too.
We have been hearing about a host of names that Chelsea could go for in the market again at the end of the season, and the name of Rafa Leao is one creeping back in again, with Chelsea being linked to him a number of times over the years.
Chelsea of course have already completed the deals to sign two players from Sporting, with one of them arriving this summer and the other the following summer. Apparently, Chelsea felt pressure from other top clubs so that’s why they got the deals for Geovany Quenda and Dario Essugo done early in some pre-deals.
Hudson-Odoi has been quizzed by Sky Sports News on how Espirito Santo differs from the other managers he’s had during his career.
He said: “With Nuno, compared to the other managers, it’s more the trust and belief. The faith that he has in every player in the squad, he gives me that confidence and belief to go on the pitch, be myself and show everyone why he gives me that confidence and belief.
“For me, personally, knowing what I can do to help the team helps me massively, that’s most important for me, having that consistency and freedom to go on the pitch and play my game.”
