Hugo Ekitike could be out for up to nine months with fears that the Liverpool forward has suffered a ruptured Achilles tendon.
The French forward had to be stretchered off early into the Reds' 2-0 defeat in the Champions League quarter-final against Paris Saint-Germain on Tuesday evening with the Ligue 1 side eventually progressing 4-0 on aggregate.
According to L'Equipe, the prognosis for Ekitike's injury and the 23-year-old may not return to action until 2027 with an Achilles injury that can take around nine months to recover from. Meanwhile, English media outlets are more cautious with the player expected to have further tests today.
Should the French outlet's report be true it means that Ekitike will miss this summer's World Cup and it's also bad news for his club who have yet to be able to give the expensive attacking trio of Ekitike, Alexander Isak, and Florian Wirtz consistent game time together.
Ekitike has been one of the bright spots for Liverpool in what has been a difficult 2025/26 campaign with the forward scoring 17 goals and making six assists in 45 appearances for his club this season.
