Hurzeler explains Welbeck and De Cuyper ‘issues’ after Liverpool defeat | OneFootball

Fabian Hurzeler used Danny Welbeck and Max De Cuyper from the bench in the 2-0 defeat at Anfield.

According to TheArgus.co.uk, Hurzeler said: "We had some small issues with Danny. We had issues with Maxim during the week. They weren't able to train fully."

Georginio Rutter led the line, with Brajan Gruda off him and Gomez to the left. Gomez and fellow wideman Yankuba Minteh were both culpable in the hosts’ first-minute goal. Kaoru Mitoma later came on as he returned from an ankle injury.

"So that's why we chose that starting XI. I think they did it well. They had chances."

Yellow cards for Lewis Dunk and Diego Gomez will rule them out at home to Sunderland next Saturday. "We are now happy to have the availability back. I hope this availability creates competition and through this competition everyone stays alive, everyone is alert for 90 minutes, and that brings us hopefully the consistency."
