New Chelsea manager Liam Rosenior says he is good at what he does and that he has never limited his own ambition.

Questions have been raised amongst fans over the appointment of Rosenior, who has only managed Hull City and Strasbourg on a permanent basis so far in his career.

Asked if he ever envisioned himself managing a club at Chelsea’s level, Rosenior said: “You don’t limit your ambitions. I am not arrogant, but I am good at what I do. Every job I have worked, whether it be an interim or assistant, relative to the group, I have always been successful.

“I have always wanted to be at a club like this. Nobody can guarantee wins or success but I have worked very hard for a long time to be successful.”

The Englishman’s first game will be an FA Cup tie against Charlton Athletic, and after that is a tough Carabao Cup semi-final first leg against Arsenal.

Chelsea have six games in the next 19 days, and Rosenior said he is looking forward to getting started: “We have some outstanding talented players with huge potential. I am very excited to fit into this group. I have had a wonderful couple of days getting to know everyone. The players have been brilliant and engaged and I’m looking forward to getting into the games with them.”

Rosenior is aware he will have to win fans over, and he knows that the only way he can do that is by winning games.

“A club of this stature, the fans want success and they have every right to want success now. My job is to win over the fans. I have to win football games. It’s about hard work, determination and spirit.

“We’re trying to build things here in a different way. I’m very confident that in time we will show everyone why we have done it in this way.”
