Bryan Mbeumo has been backed to feature as a centre-forward for Manchester United this season after scoring twice in the club's 2-1 win over Atletico Madrid.
Mbeumo scored both goals as Michael Carrick's side beat the Spanish side in Stockholm, converting an equaliser from the penalty spot, before bundling in the winner.
The Cameroon international featured sporadically through the middle last season, and ended his debut campaign at Manchester United with 11 goals in thePremier League.
The Red Devils have been linked with signing a striker this summer to compete with Benjamin Sesko, but former Manchester United winger Jesper Blomqvist believes Mbeumo could be the solution.
He said the 26-year-old can offer a threat in transition after catching the eye in a more central role in pre-season.
"He played in a different position this game and it took him some time to find his feet," Blomqvist toldmanutd.com.
"When you switch position from the wing to centrally, it's different and you need some time to adapt, which he did. He knows the central position too as well.
"I could see him playing there against different opponents when you want to counter attack or run in behind. I like him out on the right wing as well. He's a great player. The pre-season is the moment to experiment and try different things.
