Ruben Amorim has responded to Arne Slot after his comments on Manchester United’s playing style in Sunday’s 2-1 win at Liverpool.
The Red Devils came away with maximum points from Anfield after goals in either half from Bryan Mbeumo and Harry Maguire.
The victory was their first at the stadium since 2016, but Slot was quick to point out that United relied on ‘low block’ and ‘long balls’ for the win.
The Reds’ boss insisted his comments were complimentary in his press conference on Friday.
But Amorim hit back at the Dutchman’s initial comments, saying he doesn’t need an outsider to evaluate his team.
“I don’t care what Slot is saying, what people are saying about our team,” he said. “I can watch the game and say we can do better and we need to do better, but sometimes you need to adapt to the game.
“So I don’t need anyone to evaluate my team. I can evaluate my team, and I am really clear that we should play better with the ball, and we are going to try to do that in this game.”
Questions were raised over Amorim’s future at Old Trafford following the 3-1 loss to Brentford in September.
But he has since led his team to back-to-back Premier League wins against Sunderland and Liverpool.
Amorim will want to continue the momentum when United host Brighton & Hove Albion in Manchester on Saturday.
The Seagulls have won on their previous three visits to Old Trafford, including a 3-1 success earlier this year.
Fabian Hurzeler’s side will enter Sunday’s game on the back of an excellent 2-1 win against Newcastle United. They have also defeated Manchester City and Chelsea this season.
