Uli Hoeneß has once again shaken up the football media with his statements during the “Sport1-Doppelpass.” While he did talk mostly about Bayern Munich, he also commented on Lothar Matthäus and his estimation of the needed fee for Nick Woltemade:

“We met yesterday at Bayern Munich's women's game and shook hands. Other than that, we have little to say to each other because he [Matthäus] still hasn't come to his senses” (referring to his statement that Matthäus had gone crazy because of the price for Woltemade).

Lothar Matthäus did not need long to respond accordingly:

“I feel sorry for Uli when he presents himself like this in public. His personal attacks haven't bothered me for a long time. I have the feeling that he is dissatisfied with himself and many of his decisions in recent years. I don't want to comment on him anymore. He always lets himself be provoked easily. I can't understand his statements. People from FC Bayern have contacted me and apologized for Uli's embarrassing comments.”

It seems like the beef between these two will quiet down now - but you can never say never with Uli Hoeneß.
