Liam Rosenior believes it was a natural step for Cole Palmer in his career to be named Chelsea captain against Port Vale.

Palmer led the Blues out for the first time as they thrashed Port Vale 7-0 at Stamford Bridge to book their place in the FA Cup semi finals and a trip to Wembley.
It was the perfect afternoon for the Blues with seven different goal scorers, and Rosenior would have been relieved to be talking about the football again.
With Enzo Fernandez suspended, a lot of the talk centred around who would captain the side, with Reece James also missing through injury.
Moises Caicedo would have been the obvious choice, but he was named on the bench, and Rosenior opted to go with Palmer rather than Tosin Adarabioyo as he named a strong line-up.
It perhaps came as a surprise, and whilst Palmer didn’t get on the scoresheet, Rosenior was impressed with how he led the team.
“I think it’s a natural step for Cole where he is in his career, he shows leadership,” he told his post match press conference.
“You have different types of leadership. You have players who talk, who organise. What Cole does and where he leads is he’s so brave and he’ll take the ball on the pitch.
“And if he makes a mistake, he’ll take the ball and be positive again. That reflects what I want in this team. I felt Cole led the team magnificently in the game today.

Rosenior confirmed Jamie Gittens had picked up another hamstring injury and will undergo a scan to determine the extent of it.

Gittens had got himself back fit, but suffered a setback in training, with his first season in Blue really not going to plan.
