The Blues stopped a run of four consecutive defeats with a 7-0 win against Port Vale in the FA Cup last weekend, but City pose a totally different threat.
Chelsea have lost their last two league games against Newcastle and Everton, and are currently out the Champions League places in sixth.
The Blues haven’t beaten City since the 2021 Champions League final, but did get an unexpected point at the Etihad earlier this season.
Liam Rosenior has confirmed Chelsea will be without Reece James and Trevoh Chalobah, whilst Enzo Fernandez will serve the final game of his suspension.
With just seven games left Chelsea can’t afford to drop more points in the race for Champions League football, and Shearer has given his prediction.
“Man City have to win every game with that huge game against Arsenal next weekend,” he wrote in his Metro column.
“I think with what we saw against Arsenal, with what we saw particularly against Liverpool after 25 minutes, City were brilliant, probably one of the best performances of the season. I would think they would carry that on, and I think City will win against Chelsea.
“If Man City don’t win and Arsenal win this weekend, I think the Premier League title race will be dead and buried.
“Prediction – Manchester City win.”
