I think I’m dangerous no matter where I play, says Marmoush

Omar Marmoush believes he’s a threat to the opposition from anywhere on the pitch.
The Egyptian forward has already featured in multiple roles since joining City in January, playing on the wing, behind Erling Haaland and most recently as the focal point of the attack in Haaland’s absence.
He’s bedded in quickly to Pep Guardiola’s squad, scoring five goals in his first 11 appearances including a memorable hat-trick against Newcastle in February.
He scored one of City’s two goals in Wednesday’s home victory over Leicester City and looks likely to again lead the line in Sunday’s Premier League trip to local rivals Manchester United.
Ahead his first experience of a Manchester derby, our No.7 said he’s happy to play wherever he’s asked to.
“I feel comfortable playing in all [the attacking] positions,” he said.
“For my national team I play on the wing, here I play as a number nine, in the pocket as a number eight or as a winger.
“It always depends on what the coach needs, I feel like I am dangerous in each position.
“I always try to do my best and listen to what the coach demands from me.”
After spells at Wolfsburg and Eintracht Frankfurt in Germany, Marmoush is used to life in a major European league.
However, the demands of chasing trophies and Champions League qualification are a step up that he’s clearly taken in his stride.
Marmoush himself says it’s just about trying to learn from the experienced proven winners that make up our squad and coaching staff.
“I wouldn’t say there is a specific part [of my game I am working on], but I am just trying to learn from the players around me, trying to take a bit from everyone and of course from Pep,” he said.
“All of the instructions he gives us and the experience he tells us helps. The learning never stops and I always try to become better every day.
“Hopefully I can learn a lot from the players and the coaches.”
Seven games into his Premier League career, Marmoush is well positioned to highlight the difference between the English top-flight and Germany’s equivalent.
When asked, the 26-year-old pinpointed one area he’s had to come to terms with since his move.
“The biggest difference I think is the intensity of the game and the quality of the players,” he stated.
“The Premier League is very intense and that is why it is one of the best leagues in the world because of the very good teams. I am very happy to be here and to take up this challenge.”
