“I think” – Mauricio Pochettino makes prediction about the Chelsea project | OneFootball

Former Chelsea boss Mauricio Pochettino has backed the club’s project to come good and highlighted the improvement of two players in particular.

Pochettino was in charge for the 2023/2024 campaign in which Chelsea finished sixth and lost the Carabao Cup final to Liverpool.

Having finished 12th the previous campaign Pochettino had overseen an improvement, but relations appeared strained and he wasn’t a popular with supporters.

Pochettino, who now manages the US national team was replaced by Enzo Maresca in the summer of 2024, with the Italian winning the Conference League and Club World Cup in his first season.

The pressure will now be on Maresca to deliver further success, with the Blues once again spending heavily in the summer.

Whether Chelsea’s project will be a success and bring them a Premier League or Champions League remains to be seen, but Pochettino has backed it to come good.

“You have players that need to adapt, like Caicedo or Enzo, they were very young and too much responsibility from the first season,” he told talkSPORT.

“I think after with experience, they start to show the quality and with relax and calm. And now they are performing very well and they perform last season very, very well.

“I think it’s a project that is going to be successful for sure.”

Blues still struggling with lack of consistency

Whilst Chelsea are certainly showing signs of improvement, there’s no doubt the Blues are really struggling to find any consistency.
