Reece James has acknowledged there’s been a lot of change at Chelsea over the past few years, but is confident the team will get stronger and have more success.

Chelsea have gone down a completely different route since the Todd Boehly and Clearlake Capital takeover three years ago.

There’s been a high turnover of players in the majority of transfer windows, and a real shift to signing talented youngsters over established stars.

Reece James believes Chelsea will only get stronger

Chelsea had success last season with Enzo Maresca guiding the club back into the Champions League, and winning both the Conference League and Club World Cup.

The Blues have a lot of talent in their squad, but there’s a lack of proven quality in key areas which is holding them back.

Chelsea currently sit fourth, but are highly unlikely to challenge for the title this season, although James is confident they will have more success in the future.

“Over the past few years it’s obviously changed, things have adapted, new people have come in – different members of staff, a much younger team,” he  told Chelsea’s website.

“But I think the last season speaks for itself about how far we’ve come and where we’re trying to go, what we’re going to achieve.

“I think, with time, everything will only get stronger and better.”

Chelsea captain back to his best

After struggling with injuries over the past few years, the 26-year-old has been injury free for over a year, and is very much back to his best.

James has been superb at both right back and in midfield this season, whilst he’s really grown into his role as captain.

It’s great to see James flourishing both on and off the pitch, and he’s such an important to asset to Chelsea in so many ways.
