‘If we drop points it will be over’ – Guardiola on Man City’s title hopes | OneFootball

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola says his side must win against West Ham in the Premier League this weekend if they want to keep their title hopes alive.

City are looking to bounce back following their 3-0 Champions League defeat to Real Madrid in midweek. Facing an early European exit, City still trail Arsenal by seven points in the Premier League, and cannot afford for that gap to grow any larger.

“I define the Premier League as the most difficult title,” insisted Guardiola. “So the Premier League always, I believe, is the most difficult one, and still we are there, knowing that if we drop points, it will be over.

“We have been here struggling many months for the Premier League. I don’t think we’ll give up or not fight until the end without trying.

“When you win a lot of titles, it’s because every game is important.”

City’s upcoming opponents, West Ham, are fighting for survival at the bottom of the league. Asked if that makes them more dangerous, Guardiola responded: “We’re desperate too.

“The last ten games, nine, eight games every team plays for something. For relegation, for Europa League, for Conference League, for Champions League, to be champions.

“So it’s normal. Every game now is no second chances.”

The Catalan continued: “My mind is West Ham. I understand completely that you asked me about Madrid, the first question is about that, so I understand completely.

“But my focus the day after when I woke up – it was Nuno, West Ham and what we have to do.”
