Football’s lawmakers will consider measures on tactical goalkeeper stoppages next week amid concern over gamesmanship.

Daniel Farke accused Manchester City goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma of feigning injury during November’s league meeting. As he went down, Ruben Dias summoned team-mates for a touchline talk with Pep Guardiola while medics attended.

Farke said the incident was an obvious, smart exploitation of the laws and that it was for the authorities to sort. He added that faking injuries for extra team talks jarred with his view of sportsmanship, though it remained within the rules.

Leeds Live reports IFAB will analyse the issue at a London business meeting next Tuesday, with any proposals voted on in Cardiff next month.

One idea is to remove an outfielder for 30 seconds when a goalkeeper goes down. A longer time off the pitch has also been mooted, though there is pushback.

Also on the agenda are DOGSO applying when an active team-mate is fouled, VAR involvement at corners and for second yellows, and using the eight-second handling timer for goal kicks.

Arsene Wenger’s daylight offside has been dismissed, but IFAB will examine a torso-only measure excluding head and feet. Trials would start at lower levels. If approved in February, changes would apply from 1 July, with exceptions for the World Cup and early domestic starts.
