Josuha Guilavogui has taken his first step towards management after leaving Leeds United, marking a potential new chapter following his brief but popular stint in last season’s promotion campaign.

The player said in a post that he had graduated with a UEFA degree in football management from the University of Lausanne.

He wrote that he remains in love with football and is increasingly drawn to leadership, sharing knowledge, people management and a collective vision, adding that the intensive course strengthened his conviction about life after playing.

Guilavogui joined Leeds in October 2024 as a free agent after injuries to Ilia Gruev and Ethan Ampadu. He made 18 appearances in all competitions and broke Vinnie Jones’ 1989 club record by going unbeaten in his first 15 games. Though he did not start a league match, he was influential from the bench and around the squad.

After the Championship title was secured he left the club and has been without a team for more than half a year, without officially retiring. His next move remains open, with management an option and a return to playing also possible, and Wolfsburg have been linked.

Illan Meslier responded to his Instagram update with clapping emojis, underlining the esteem in which the Frenchman is held at Elland Road.
