Both Daniel Svensson and Felix Nmecha are progressing well in rehab as well as personal training. Local news source, Ruhr Nachrichten reports that both players should make a return to play soon. Svensson is close to a comeback, with a place on the bench against Mainz not out of the question, though it’s too early for a decision. Felix Nmecha, however, is expected to return for the matches against Bayern Munich and Barcelona.

Daniel Svensson was victim of a rather dirty challenge in Dortmund’s first leg Champions League matchup with Lille. The tackle left him with an injury to his medial knee ligament, forcing him off the pitch. The Swede had impressed fans with his technical ability and pace from left back to midfield since joining on loan from Nordsjaelland in the winter. Svensson has made just seven appearances in Black and Yellow, but he could be a crucial asset in Dortmund’s end of season push.

Felix Nmecha has been out of action since his knee injury in Dortmund’s draw against Werder Bremen when Mike Tullberg was in charge. The German has not yet featured under Niko Kovac, but could soon make an impact with Marcel Sabitzer injured and Emre Can pulled into the center back role. Nmecha’s time at Dortmund has been marred by injuries, but he’s had a promising season, already surpassing the number of minutes he played in Black and Yellow last term.

Borussia Dortmund host third placed Mainz on Sunday, March 30, where they will be looking for a stable win to build momentum from.
