Owen Hargreaves has named his dream midfield signings for Manchester United this summer – all of whom are England internationals.
It comes ahead of what’s expected to be a major transfer window for the Red Devils at the end of the season, during which more than one midfielder will be signed.

For the former Red, his ideal additions would be Cole Palmer, Elliot Anderson and Morgan Rogers.

Manchester City graduate Palmer, now Chelsea’s talisman, has already been linked with a return to Manchester amid claims he’s feeling homesick in London. Should Liam Rosenior’s side fail to qualify for the Champions League, it may pave the way for the star to be on the move.
As for Anderson, it’s perhaps the worst-kept secret in football right now that he sits firmly atop INEOS’ shortlist. However, he is also high up on City’s list, and reports have suggested that the Etihad outfit are favourites to come out on top in the race for the Nottingham Forest ace’s signature.
While United are willing to meet Forest’s demands regarding his price tag, City do have the upper hand when it comes to negotiating personal terms, as INEOS implemented a new salary cap upon their arrival in M16 to prevent players from being on exorbitant wages.
Rogers hasn’t been as reputably linked with United as the other two – although there have been murmurings of a potential reunion with Michael Carrick, whom he played under while on loan at Middlesbrough, if the interim manager is appointed on a long-term basis.

Hagreaves said of the topic when speaking to TNT Sports: “If you’re United, they had England’s midfield, and they have gone away from that [in recent years].
“They have got Kobbie [Mainoo]. Casemiro is leaving. With Bruno [Fernandes], who knows how long he’ll be there, but if you are squad planning, you want England’s future midfield.
“So you have Kobbie, Elliot [Anderson], and I would go try and get Morgan Rogers or Cole Palmer, that’s who I would throw the kitchen sink at.
“They have a good nucleus, but with Casemiro leaving, you need a defensive [midfielder] and you need a 10. But if you had Elliot, Kobbie and Morgan Rogers or Cole Palmer, you are okay for a while.”
