Joan Laporta’s re-election as FC Barcelona president was not just decisive; it was historic in several ways.
According to Mundo Deportivo, Laporta received 32,934 votes, making him the second most-voted president in Barcelona history. The only candidate to ever receive more was Sandro Rosell, who collected 35,021 votes back in 2010.
The scale of the victory becomes even more striking when placed in percentage terms. Laporta secured 67.93% of the vote, a figure that places him among the most dominant winners the club has ever seen.
In fact, only Josep Lluis Nunez, who won 76.31% in 1997, has ever posted a better percentage in a Barcelona presidential election.
There was also a clear improvement on Laporta’s own previous winning total. When he won the 2021 election, he had polled 30,184 votes. This time, he went a step further. Meanwhile, Victor Font dropped from 16,679 votes in 2021 to 14,385 in 2026.
The turnout figures also help frame the scale of the occasion. A total of 48,480 members cast their ballots from an electoral census of 114,504, which represents a participation rate of 42.34%. That made it the fourth-highest turnout by total number of voters in club history, although the percentage participation was lower than the 50.42% recorded in 2021.
Put simply, Laporta did not just win. He delivered one of the strongest electoral performances Barcelona have ever seen. He has bulldozed his way into office for another term, and let’s wait and see how things play out this time around.
