While Lennart Karl is currently making headlines at FC Bayern, the next top talent, Wisdom Mike, is already waiting in the wings. The 17-year-old winger has been a permanent member of the professional squad since this season and now wants to make a name for himself – initially on the international stage, however.

Mike is currently taking part in the World Cup in Qatar with the German U17 national team. The finals run from 3 to 27 November, with the DFB team taking on Colombia on Tuesday. Mike wants to confirm his strong impression from Munich and help the DFB team get off to a successful start.

Kompany counts on Mike after the U17 World Cup

Wisdom Mike has already been given his first professional minutes this season – both in the Bundesliga and in the Champions League. As Sky reports, coach Vincent Kompany plans to gradually give the attacking jewel more playing time after the U17 World Cup. A loan in the winter is therefore not planned.

Those responsible have great confidence in the young winger. His contract, which was extended in the summer, runs until 2029 and will automatically be converted into a professional contract on 24 September 2026, his 18th birthday – according to Sky , there is no exit clause.

Bayern’s march through the youth ranks

Mike is regarded as one of the most promising attackers on the Bayern campus. Last season, he scored an impressive 13 goals in eleven games for the U17s and set up a further five goals. He has also already gained experience in the U19 Bundesliga and the UEFA Youth League.

In the current season, in addition to his brief appearances with the professionals, he has also featured in the regional league team, where he promptly scored a goal.

Bayern see Mike as the next great home-grown talent who could follow in the footsteps of shooting star Lennart Karl in the long term. With his dynamism, creativity and finishing ability, he epitomises much of Kompany’s attacking philosophy.
