Soon-to-be Real Madrid head coach José Mourinho has made a call on the immediate future of Nico Paz with the club.

This comes amid confirmation that the Portuguese wants the youngster to be part of his squad in Spain’s capital for the 2026/27 campaign.

Speculation surrounding Paz’s future has reemerged in force over the course of the last week.

Amid reports that the Argentine international is keen to stay put at Como for another year following the club’s qualification for the Champions League, the Italian outfit have been tipped to kickstart a new round of negotiations with their Real Madrid counterparts.

The understanding when it comes to Paz has long been that Los Blancos intend to activate their buyback option on the 21-year-old this summer.

And if the latest word stemming from the media on Friday is anything to go by, then this stance looks highly unlikely to change following the appointment of the club’s new manager.

As per a report from Italian football insider Gianluca Di Marzio, ahead of the 63-year-old’s imminent unveiling at the Bernabéu:

‘José Mourinho isn’t open to the young talent staying in Como: the Portuguese coach wants to have him in Madrid right away.’
