Barcelona star Fermín López is set to be in attendance at this weekend’s World Cup final. This will come in a direct effort on the part of the midfielder to show his support for his fellow countryman.

Youngster Fermín was of course ruled out of this summer’s headline international tournament in devastating fashion.

As another successful Barcelona campaign approached its close, and with the 23-year-old considered a shoo-in to be named in Luis de la Fuente’s Spanish squad bound for North America, Fermín suffered an injury setback.

Forced under the knife to fix a broken bone in his right foot, the Barcelona standout was in turn unavailable for selection for the World Cup.

La Roja have for their part since gone on to book their spot in the tournament’s finale, primed for a showdown with reigning champions Argentina on Sunday.

And as alluded to above, Fermín is understood to be ready to put his disappointment at missing out aside for the evening…

As per a report from Diario Sport, the goalscoring midfielder intends to travel to New York for the World Cup final, to show his support for his compatriots and Blaugrana teammates alike.

Fermín is expected to link up with Luis de la Fuente’s troops at some point over the next 24 hours.
