Real Madrid are heading into the final phase of the campaign with fewer injuries as compared to the earlier parts of the campaign.

However, one of the notable absentees for the Los Blancos at this stage of the campaign is Eder Militao, who is still out due to a long-term injury.

The Brazilian international has been out since November when he picked up a serious knee injury. While his absence has given rise to defensive prodigy Raul Asencio, Real Madrid will be yearning for his return sooner rather than later.

To that end, a recent report from COPE has offered a fresh update on Militao’s future, suggesting that the defender has entered a new phase of recovery.

The report goes on to suggest that Militao is already working on the pitch with the ball, which is a very positive sign for Real Madrid.

Although the Brazilian international will not be making a comeback immediately, the fact that he is working with the ball suggests his return is not far either.

The timeline becomes important here, though it won’t be surprising to see Militao not featuring on the pitch until the end of the campaign.

The same goes for Dani Carvajal as well. Even if the two return to full training before the end of the campaign, there will be question marks raised on their match readiness.

The club itself are likely to take a more cautious approach with regards to their fitness, considering their injury history and the fact that the current set of defenders have been performing optimally.

Nevertheless, it will be interesting to see how soon Militao can return to full training, knowing leadership and presence in the dressing room could always be useful as Real Madrid brace themselves for the final phase of the campaign.
