Why players say training already feels different?

Inside Carrick’s new United — Squad respond to fresh approach after Amorim dismissal
Manchester United players say Michael Carrick has brought new energy to training after replacing Ruben Amorim until the end of the season.
Players at Man United praised the changes introduced by interim coach Michael Carrick following the departure of former manager Ruben Amorim.
Carrick appointed until the end of the season after Amorim was dismissed earlier this month reportedly following dispute with sporting director Jason Wilcox.
United had struggled for form under the Portuguese coach but Carrick began his reign with surprise 2-0 derby win over Manchester City.
According to The Sun, several players believe the strong performance in that match was linked to clear improvement in the team’s training atmosphere.
Sources inside the dressing room said The Sun, Carrick has introduced training sessions that are shorter, sharper and more intense with bigger focus on pace and enjoyment on the pitch.
This approach is seen as very different from Amorim’s style which players reportedly found long, exhausting and mentally draining.
One player described Amorim’s sessions as being like “playing chess on the pitch” suggesting there was too much emphasis on tactical detail and not enough on physical freshness.
Under Carrick, training is said to feel more direct and lively helping players regain confidence & motivation.
Carrick’s early results have also impressed supporters and club figures. United have won their first two match under him collecting six point including strong away victory at Arsenal.
Reports noted that Carrick moved away from Amorim’s 3-4-3 system and returned to back four while also giving more freedom to players such as Bruno Fernandes further forward.
Attacker Matheus Cunha & young winger Patrick Dorgu have made key impacts, with Carrick praising their mentality and hunger to contribute even when not starting.
Cunha said there is a “different energy” around the squad, with Carrick reminding the players what it means to represent Man United.
Despite the positive start, former United captains Roy Keane & Gary Neville have expressed doubts about Carrick becoming the permanent manager.
Both believe the club should still look for more experienced world class coach in the summer.
Carrick himself has avoided speaking about the long term role insisting he is focused only on helping the team through the current period.
