Inside the triumph: Corinthians unveil 4th Copa do Brasil doc

Three days after lifting the Copa do Brasil trophy, Corinthians released a special feature recalling the achievement of their fourth title in the competition. The material, published on Corinthians TV, is approximately 56 minutes long and marks the club’s return to a national trophy after eight years. The production brings together behind-the-scenes footage and testimonials from different moments of the two finals, from pre-game to the final celebration.

The documentary begins by capturing the atmosphere of the first leg, held at Neo Química Arena on the 17th. The opening scenes show the delegation’s arrival at the “House of the People” and the intense backstage activity, with staff and the coaching team making the final adjustments for a decisive night.

In the locker room, the atmosphere was one of total concentration. Few words, attentive looks, and serious expressions showed the squad’s understanding of the magnitude of the occasion. Preparation continued in silence and with absolute focus before the start of the match.

During the indoor warm-up, fitness coach Reverson Pimentel delivered a powerful speech, demanding maximum intensity from the first minute. He emphasized the importance of the midfield, praised the collective effort throughout the season, and reminded everyone of the role families played on their journey to that point.

“You have to be switched on! Nothing can get past this midfield, man**! And we’re going to win this game. Behind each one of you here, regardless of who’s going onto the field, there’s a family behind you. I’m proud of each of you who paid the price, each of you living this moment. And now, I’ll use your words: when this group sets its mind to something, this group is ba*! And today won’t be any different, because the ‘crazy ones’ have made it!”, he motivated.

Still in the locker room, players like Rodrigo Garro, Gustavo Henrique, and Romero reinforced the need for total focus from the opening whistle. Dorival Júnior, in turn, explained the plan to press Vasco from the start, winning the ball back in the attacking half to undermine the opponent’s confidence.

“If we want to break their team’s confidence, it’s by winning the ball back in the attacking half. So, we have to tighten the marking, we have to press! Don’t give up for a second! That’s where we’ll win it back and stay close to goal,” he said.

Next, Raniele highlighted how rare it is to reach a final and called for maximum effort, recalling the journey so far. “Enjoy it, it’s not every day we reach a moment like this. Give your all, enjoy it again. We fought to get here,” he commented.

Hugo Souza also spoke to the group, emotionally emphasizing the importance of never giving up on dreams and fighting to the end to make them come true.

“If there’s one thing in my life I’ve never negotiated, it’s my dreams. And when I have the chance to achieve one of them, I go for it. Today, our chance begins to realize the dream we started building at the start of the year. We fight with our flesh and we conquer. And when it’s in our hands, we hold on. So, let’s go together until the end,” he concluded.

After the draw in the first match, then football executive Fabinho Soldado called for emotional balance, while André Ramalho reinforced that the decision was still open. Hugo Souza, meanwhile, assured that the team would be ready for a superior performance in the decisive clash.

In the penultimate training session before the final, on the 19th, Dorival Júnior gathered the squad at CT Dr. Joaquim Grava for a motivational talk. The coach stressed that the final should be treated as a single game and said that playing away from home did not diminish Corinthians’ chances. On the contrary, it would serve as fuel to change the narrative of a team that had been doubted.

“I have no doubt: this will be very useful for us, it will be very important. The final is one match. ‘Oh, we’re away from home’, ‘Oh, they came here and played well’… True, I agree with all that. But rest assured, we’re going to win this game! We’re going to win there! We will, once again, because today we are, once again, the ‘worst thing’ that happened this year. We are the questioned team, the one that ‘doesn’t shine’. Once again, we’re the team that generates doubt. And, once again, we’re going to completely change that thinking for the vast majority!”, he began.

The coach also reinforced that confidence did not come from emotion, but from the work done throughout the season. He cited previous performances, such as the semifinal at Mineirão, and called for the same focus and sense of responsibility.

“If we have the right attitude, if we’re focused, like I saw in Belo Horizonte, serious faces, everyone wanting it, everyone knowing the responsibility they had and preparing in their own way for that decision, we will win,” he stated.

Even recalling the recent emotional strain, Dorival asked the group not to look for excuses and to impose themselves at Maracanã.

“You saw what happened emotionally, we played a game to the limit on Sunday (against Cruzeiro) and, two and a half days later, we already have to be on the field. But we don’t have to blame ourselves, we don’t have to look for doubts, create uncertainties or mistrust. No! We’re in the final on equal terms. Who’s stronger? Them, because they’re at home? No! Us, because we’ll be there! Because we’re going to impose ourselves there!”, he commented.

The coach also demanded maximum preparation and guaranteed that the performance on the field would be a direct reflection of the work done in the days leading up to the match.

“Focus more! Close ranks even more! Prepare even more! We’re not going to give their team any chances or opportunities, you can be sure of that. That’s all I wanted to say. I’m calmer than I was in the previous game. You can be sure of that. Now, our preparation… if it’s even better, if it’s even more consistent, if it’s even safer, what happens after the match will be a reflection of that. During the game, you’ll enjoy everything we’ve done,” he continued.

To conclude, Dorival recalled the season’s difficulties and placed the achievement in the players’ hands.

“We went through a hell of a lot of difficulties. That made us mature and grow even more. I believe in that. Did we have difficulties? Yes! And now is the time for us to crown all of that. It will depend on each one of you, on how you feel and get fired up for this match. We will be champions on Sunday! We will be champions!”, he finished.

The documentary then shows the delegation’s departure for Guarulhos Airport, with a massive mobilization from the faithful fans. Chants and flares marked the farewell, while the players watched emotionally from inside the bus.

In Rio de Janeiro, the support continued upon arrival at the hotel. The production highlights Ángel Romero’s interaction with the fans, returning the affection with photos and attention.

The following images show the routine at the hotel before the final: medical treatments, tactical meetings, and the final team talk. Dorival highlighted the unbeaten campaign as visitors and reinforced that the credit for the journey belonged to the players.

“Look at all the problems you went through. Look at all the difficulties we had and look at what we did! The credit is yours. The moment is yours. It’s time for you to make this decision. It’s the last decision of the year and it’s in our hands. What we want depends exclusively on us,” he emphasized.

The coach also praised the environment built by the group and reinforced his conviction in the title.

“It’s our attitude on the field, it’s our presence, it’s our desire, it’s wanting a little more! This friendship, this environment you’ve built… that’s what will take us to the title, you can be sure. We will leave here today as Copa do Brasil champions. You deserve it!”, he continued.

The film also shows the arrival at Maracanã, the final preparations in the locker room, and confident speeches from athletes like André Ramalho, Maycon, and Romero. Dorival recalled a conversation from the beginning of his tenure at the club, when he said that group would be champions.

Before the match began, Memphis Depay asked to speak and highlighted self-confidence and ambition as keys to victory.

“Believe in yourselves. Dictate yourselves. That’s the mentality. I’m not used to speaking in the locker room. We don’t do this in Europe. But this is a final, we sacrificed a lot and we’re going to win. But not because we suffered, because they suffered too. We deserve it because we want it more than they do,” he said.

Hugo Souza also reinforced the need to be switched on from the very first minute.

With the title secured, the squad and coaching staff gathered on the pitch to celebrate, in a scene marked by emotion and unity between players and club staff. The party continued with the fans in the away section, with traditional chants echoing through the stadium.

In the locker room, the celebration took on different forms: social media posts, cigars, and more private moments. Dorival congratulated the group, Romero highlighted the historic nature of the achievement, and president Osmar Stabile wrapped up by praising the squad, stating that the group is now immortalized in Corinthians’ history and projecting new titles for the future.
