Inter were left furious with the officiating in their 1-1 home draw with Atalanta, then declined to put coach Cristian Chivu or any players up for post-match interviews.

La Gazzetta dello Sport reports that president Beppe Marotta and director Piero Ausilio politely confronted referee Gianluca Manganiello in the dressing rooms at full time, with Andrea Demarco, the federal coordinator for relations between referees and clubs, and Andrea Gervasoni, the delegate assessing the refereeing performance, present. Gazzetta and Sport Mediaset suggest Inter feel a climate of hostility linked to the Alessandro Bastoni case.

Inter protested a possible foul in the build-up to Atalanta’s second-half equaliser, then felt they should have had a penalty minutes later for Giorgio Scalvini’s mistimed challenge on Davide Frattesi.

They had already complained about a potential late penalty not awarded in last week’s 1-0 defeat by Milan.

In February, Bastoni drew a red card for Juventus defender Pierre Kalulu after going to ground easily under the Frenchman’s challenge, then celebrated the dismissal. He received hostile welcomes at Lecce and Como and in the derby with Milan, where he also suffered an injury.

Inter remain top of Serie A with an eight-point lead over second-placed Milan, who have a game in hand tonight against Lazio at the Stadio Olimpico in Rome.
