Reports in Italy claim that Inter have an agreement in principle with Tottenham and Italy goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario, but the Nerazzurri still have two major obstacles to overcome before bringing the 29-year-old to San Siro.

Reports in Italy claim Inter have agreement in principle with Vicario

For much of the 2025-26 season, Inter have been linked with a move to sign Vicario from Tottenham at the end of the 2025-26 season. Current Nerazzurri goalkeeper, 37-year-old Yann Sommer, is out of contract at the end of June and is not expected to extend his stay.

According to the latest updates from La Gazzetta dello Sport, Inter already have a basic agreement with Vicario’s camp over the length of contract and future wages, although these exact figures have not been specified in Wednesday’s report. Still, the agreement between the Inter camp and Vicario’s entourage is said to be ‘complete’.

However, Inter still have two major details to iron out before welcoming Vicario to San Siro: First up is negotiating a fee with Tottenham.

Figures in the region of €15m-€20m have been cited by reports in the Italian press in recent weeks, and it is understood that Tottenham will be pushed to sell Vicario more urgently should they suffer relegation from the Premier League at the end of the 2025-26 campaign.

Spurs are currently in the relegation zone, two points adrift from safety with four games of the season left to play.

Secondly, Inter must come to a decision as to what to do with Josep Martinez, who has largely served as an understudy to the veteran Sommer over the last two seasons.

Martinez has impressed with the limited opportunities available to him, but this is a blessing and a curse for Inter. The Nerazzurri are reportedly aware of the Spaniard’s potential, but so is he, and at 27 years old, Martinez is said to be keen on playing first-team football next season, whether that be with Inter or elsewhere.
