Inter Miami CF draws with Palmeiras, advances to Round of 16

MIAMI – The FIFA Club World Cup 2025 continued with Inter Miami CF and Palmeiras delivering a thrilling 2-2 draw on Monday at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami, Florida, USA.
The MLS side jumped out to the lead in the 16’ after a counterattack sparked a brilliant finish from Tadeo Allende, assisted by Luis Suárez.
Suárez got a goal himself in the 65’ after taking on a group of defenders, in a vintage play by the Uruguayan star, before firing home the goal to double the lead.
Palmeiras pushed forward and was able to spark a rally, starting with a Paulinho goal in the 80’ off a low shot.
Maurício tied the encounter seven minutes later, in the 87’, as he smashed a volley in the box and led Palmeiras to a first-place finish in Group A.
Lionel Messi will face his former team in the Round of 16 as Inter Miami, the group runners-up, advanced to take on 2025 UEFA Champions League winners Paris Saint-Germain on Sunday in Atlanta, Georgia.
