Inter Miami lost their second playoff game to Nashville SC, setting up a game three to decide who progresses. Attention is already turning to midfield succession, with questions over whether Sergio Busquets is approaching his final minutes in pink.
El Intransigente reports that Inter Miami are among three clubs eyeing Boca Juniors midfielder Milton Delgado after his standout Under-20 World Cup with Argentina. Chelsea and FC Porto have also asked about him, and Inter Miami have enquired about his situation. The report adds that Chelsea could push hardest, Boca will sell only if his release clause is met, Chelsea are viewed as frontrunners, and Mascherano and Beckham want Delgado paired with De Paul.
Delgado's displays in the final against Morocco and recent outings versus Barracas Central and Estudiantes de la Plata have heightened interest from Europe and the Herons.
On the pitch, Delgado is viewed as a stylistic fit for Busquets, favouring one- or two-touch passing and quick decision-making. He could make an immediate impact if signed.
A Premier League move could materialise if the release clause is activated. Inter Miami could still test Boca's resolve with a bid.
For now, the Herons remain alive in the post-season and head into Saturday's decider with high hopes.
