Inter Milan and AC Milan are ready to go head-to-head for the signature of Parma defender Giovanni Leoni.

This according to today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport, via FCInter1908.

Parma defender Giovanni Leoni has really marked himself out with his performances over the season just gone.

The 18-year-old was a key player at the back for the Gialloblu as they staved off relegation.

Parma had only just signed Leoni last summer. They brought the teenage defender in from Sampdoria.

However, there is already a feeling that Leoni could be on his way this summer.

Foremost among Leoni’s suitors will be Inter, the Corriere reports.

The Nerazzurri had already been keen on signing the teenager last summer. However, they were unable to strike a deal with Sampdoria, and he joined Parma instead.

However, Inter are ready to reignite their interest this summer.

With Cristian Chivu – who worked very successfully with Leoni at Parma – set to take over as Inter coach, the 18-year-old has shot to the top of Inter’s defensive shortlist.

However, the Nerazzurri are far from the only club with an interest in Leoni’s signature.

Also chasing the Parma defender this summer are Inter’s city rivals AC Milan.

Parma, for there part, would want no less than €15 million for Giovanni Leoni. However, they will also hope that a bidding war between the Nerazzurri and the Rossoneri would cause that to rise.
