Allianz Stadium forms the backdrop for one of the most iconic fixtures in Serie A.

Indeed, the rivalry between Juventus and Inter is long-standing, but there’s more than just bragging rights at stake this weekend.

New boss Cristian Chivu will make his Derby d’Italia debut as manager.

Despite overseeing a 5-0 thumping of Torino in round one, Chivu lost his first game in charge of Inter last time out.

Udinese defied the odds to beat the Nerazzurri 2-1 at San Siro, intensifying pressure on the 44-year-old.

Therefore, Inter will be out to make amends and reaffirm their Scudetto credentials.

However, history favors Juventus in Turin, adding another layer of challenge for the 2010 treble winner.

Despite his versatility and athleticism, Carlos Augusto was a marginal figure in Inter’s opening two matches.

Indeed, Chivu used him as a late substitute against Torino and Udinese, handing him a total of 31 minutes.

However, a limited playing time has not derailed the Brazilian’s spirits.

“We know that what happened in the last match wasn’t what we wanted,” Augusto said. “We are Inter, we want to win every game.

“But this is a group that knows how to handle these moments. We have a big match to play on Saturday, and we get along well with each other and with the staff.

“We worked a lot this week between those who were with their national teams and those who stayed. And we’ll put in a great performance on Saturday.

“We know it’s only the third matchday, but winning lifts the team’s spirit.

“It’s great to win important games, and we’ll do everything to make it happen.”

Then, Augusto compared former manager Simone Inzaghi with Chivu.

“There are many differences; I’d say intensity,” he added. “Chivu likes to work a lot during the week in training, and I like that type of work.

“Every match is different, but the coach and staff are good and will do well. Our group knows what the coach wants, and I’m sure we’ll do well.”

Finally, he admitted he would love to get more minutes.

“Every player wants that, but we have a large squad with strong players. I work to help Inter as much as I can.”
