Despite Inter’s decline in recent weeks, this tie could still go either way after a spectacular first leg in Catalonia.

Indeed, the Nerazzurri held Barcelona to a 3-3 draw, leaving this match-up wide open ahead of tonight’s match in Lombardy.

However, Inter should have one crucial advantage this evening.

Simone Inzaghi and his players will enjoy raucous support from a sold-out San Siro.

Furthermore, Inter’s indomitable home record in the Champions League inspires more confidence.

Unbeaten in their last 16 home outings at Europe’s top table, Inter will take the field in a buoyant mood.

And with Lautaro Martinez in the starting eleven, everything could line up perfectly for the Serie A champions.

“We’ll have to be very sharp, working as a team like we did in the first leg, knowing they have important players,” Inzaghi said.

“We’ll try to limit them together.”

When asked if he believes in Inter’s chances of navigating this challenge, Inzaghi replied: “A lot because we’ve had a fantastic run and made it this far.

“The first leg ended in a draw, and today we want to try to give our fans a dream. We’ll give it everything we have.”

In addition to Martinez’s return to the squad, Inter received another morale boost at the weekend.

Indeed, Kristjan Asllani’s early penalty was sufficient for a 1-0 home win against Hellas Verona.

That victory halted Inter’s underwhelming five-game winless streak in all competitions.
