Inter Milan manager Simone Inzaghi explains why he keeps a cardboard cutout as a valuable souvenir from his team’s wild Scudetto celebrations last season.

The Nerazzurri dominated the previous Serie A campaign almost from start to finish.

After beating Juventus on February 4th, they found themselves on an open path towards a historic triumph.

Nevertheless, the fact they sealed the title by beating their arch-rivals AC Milan in the Derby della Madonnina was the cherry on top.

After unlocking the club’s second star, the team organized several celebratory events.

However, most would agree that the bus parade that followed the Torino clash was the most magical moment.

Hundreds of thousands of Nerazzurri supporters took the streets of Milano as the team bus slowly made its way through the jubilant crowds.

This certainly left a big impression on Inzaghi who felt greatly attached to the fanbase in that particular moment.

The coach admitted he was so emotional he would have liked to take the crowds home with him.

So to make up for this impossible dream, he decided to preserve a cardboard of himself as a souvenir.

“After the Scudetto, celebration, I saw a father and son holding a cardboard cutout of myself,” explained the 48-year-old in an extract of his interview with Cronache di Spogliatoio via FcInter1908.

“That day, I wished I could take all the fans home with me. But since that wasn’t possible, I took the cardboard instead.

“It has been in my living room ever since.”

Inzaghi has already won six titles since joining the Nerazzurri in the summer of 2021. Nonetheless, unlocking the second star is certainly his biggest career achievement.
